Today at work I noticed I have unspent reward points with more on the way. I started browsing our online catalog and I found out I can get a free sluice with these points!!!! I currently have an Angus Recon and I have done well with it. I was thinking it would be nice to have more of a higher production sluice next since the recon does well in small creeks. My only options through the point system are another Angus or a Stansport. I have never seen a Stansport in action. The Stansport measures 50" x 9" and is a folding backpackable aluminum sluice that looks similar to a proline or a keene. If I were to get another Angus I would want something larger like the Boss or even the Alaskan and both of these models are available. So these are my choices, any input would be greatly appreciated.

be carfull with the folding boxs.. some are not worth a damn others are ok. also some folding boxs are too long to be set up in a creek with low gradient [ almost any creek around here ]

Don't get a folding box as was said, don't go with alaskan either (its a great sluice and all just autrap design retains more fine gold). I would go with depending on the creek or creeks you are working and water speed the boss with abyss riffle design but you need a lot of water for it. Foreman is great and I use it exclusively almost but it depends on the creek.

Yup, fireonthemountain is right. The new design works good in turbulent water though. In uneven turbulent water the box design of a more tradional style sluice (say an a52 for example) can handle that type of water real well.
I've ran Angus sluices in turbulent water and still retain good gold, fines, flakes, etc. Ya just want to see the material in the sluice even as possible and upgrading well(the exchange of the material etc).

Thanks for the input, I will definitely look into the foreman. What size classifier do you use with this box?

I use a 1/4" classifier

Yeah 1/4 or 5/16 is fine. Of coarse you can use 1/8 or smaller too.. say if you are in an area you know is 98% fine gold then go smaller.
