Hard to ID from your picture trying taking one in natural light, so the true color can be seen better.
You can also do a streak test, rub the material on the underside of your toilet lid, or any unglazed ceramic, tile etc.
If the color is a copper/red color it could be copper, if it's black with a possible greenish tint is most likely pyrite or chalcopyrite, if it's gold it could be gold.
You can also determine if it is indeed a metal or not, stick the material with a sharp object, like a large needle or small knife, if the material is brittle and falls apart/crumbles/breaks, it not a metal, though it could be a mineral which contains metal, e.g. ore of some type, if the the material is malleable, e.g. it indents/bends like lead even if more force is needed to do so, then it's a metal of some type.

So I tried rubbing it on unglazed ceramic and it was black. I also ran my metal detector over it and I got no response. I tried a neodymium magnet and I got not attraction. I took a piece and hit it with a torch and it turned red so I guess it is pyrite.
