im not the person to be preaching about safety but i just want to remind everyone that snakes, ticks, skeeters, ect are among us and in full swing. 40 percent deet takes care of bugs most of the time but any less deet than that may be inaffective. a good pair of snake chaps might not be a bad idea you can get some that cover your entire leg or just up to the knees. they make abs plastic and fabric snake chaps as well as some boots are snake proof. a little bit goes a long way. a 3 dollar can of bug spray can keep you from gettin lime or rocky mtn spotted fever and gettin hit by a copperhead 5 miles out would be a disaster. stay frosty my friends

I spray down my long sleeve shirt and pants with Permethrin every spring. Haven't had a tick in 2 years. Be very careful not to breath the mist when applying it. You can even buy clothing with it already applied at REI. I also use deet on hands and neck. I got bit about 3 years ago and was sick for 2 months, not fun.

The water snakes were out in full force the weekend before last... I had to chase a couple out of my area that were hanging around on the banks next to my stairs I put in...

Friend got spotted fever and he is still having problems from it several years later. Deer ticks are so small, you can barely see them. Looks like a very small red dot. Bit 25 times in VA. Scary!!!! At least 12 people camping had that many ticks on them. We all went to doctor and got a shot.

Is it true if you can pull them off within 24 hours you lessen your chance of illness?

Don't pull them off! Put some Dawn or something similar on them and they will let go pretty quick. If you pull them off you take a chance on leaving the head imbedded in you and the juice in them will be injected into you. Wes
