Wondering how many of yall are GPAA members, and is it worth it? I have only prospected a few times mainy panning at Uwharrie NF in some creeks. I did set my new sluice up for the first time their last week. I ended up with about 20-30 colors (very small stuff) from 1 5 gallon bucket. I guess what Im trying to find out is if I join the GPAA will it open up any new areas for me to prospect at in NC?

I've been a GPAA member 5 years, You learn a lot from the magazines and claims guide, and they have a news letter that keeps you up to date on the laws. The Gold show is on a Friday and Saturday this year in Charlotte.

I went to the Matthews meeting last Wednesday. Very impressed. They were professional in the way they conducted business and meeting. They had social time before and after meeting with food. Very friendly people with no drama. The members worked together unloading 2 16' trailers of dirt bought from Vein Mt. and has hired a track hoe and dump truck to remove dirt from their club house creek to coincide with the Gold Show they will have in two weeks. Their chapter price for joining is three meetings or a mix of meetings and outings for a total of three. Then you buy a club t-shirt and name tag. That's it! They are very strong on obtaining private land. Not public access areas. They have other activities such as going to Raleigh NC to educate 800 kids at the capitol for gold rush day. Outings to museums, historic places, etc. So there is something for all to do each month. I'll be a member this Sunday when I do another outing. Also, three prospecting stores are associated with this chapter. They even raffled off pay dirt at meeting to raise money for website and club expenditures.
All in all... very impressed!
