i have found some decent gold by scraping and blowing out the cracks of clean bedrock,where others have been. some just use the nozzle... it want always pull stuck gold. jim

Just a suggestion that might help some of you when you encounter this sort of packed in area. I use a 10 lb automotive body repair slide hammer for breaking up the material and bedrock. We body men use them for pulling out dents but they work great when you use them the opposite way to penetrate packed material when dredging. They make smaller ones also that work good for smaller areas, and either of them are easier than scraping or using a chisel. They are not very expensive and you can usually find them used.
