Well Santa was good to me this year, I received a 7"x36" Aluminum "Buckabilly Sluice" made by Bill and Shelly Webb of Willard, OH. It came with- Black Gold hog mat, Standard Blue sluice carpet, Grated riffles, and Belgian riffles So has anyone heard of these people or had any experience with their sluices? So far the only negative thing I've noticed is that the black hog mat is Epoxy Glued to the box so no pulling it out to clean, otherwise it seems to be of solid construction.

Thats an awesome looking sluice ive never heard of them but ill bet it works good. I like how its only 7 inchs wide that way you can run in smaller creeks. I ended up making my own sluice box just for small creeks and low water conditions.

I'll test it tomorrow in the creek behind my house but the real test will come next weekend in UNF, and the flare is 12" wide but its removable so i guess i can run it in small creeks

Buckabilly sluices have been out for a number of years and have a great reputation as being very good sluices, Bill and Shelly are long time prospectors not just makers of sluices, that being said I haven't use one of their sluices personally, I've just read many reviews posted by users of their sluices.

@ure- yes but the smaller to micro stuff, this is what I got from two 5 gal. buckets -about 6 or 7 specks + aboslutely NO BLACK SAND in this creek, for some reason my creek has either reddish to blonde sand instead of black. @goldseeker- Thank you, I'm glad to know that I got a sluice from experienced makers/prospectors and from todays use it was incredibly easy to set up and get the flow correct. It also cleared itself out fairly thoroughly even though I was dumping unclassified material through it. So overall I'll give it a 9.5/10 stars, only modification I would suggest would be to not epoxy the hog mat down - Otherwise it collected close to the expected recovery amount with minimal time of pulling out clogs.
