I think I know where this is... I've been there (if it's the same one I'm thinking about)

Any chance of yall pointing me in the direction of this waterfall? Plan on heading to the reservation the weekend after Christmas and would like to show this to my boys.

Go down moccasin creek rd (fs rd 576) past the falls dam. There will be a red striped metal pole on the right side of the rd. This is where you park. There is a trail leading right to the waterfalls

those waterfalls are a really neat place. theres a bolted climbing route at the bottom and I belive the whole place used to be a mine of some sort. bald eagles can be seen over the lake. its a great place to kayak and lots of campsites around the water. theres a cave at the base of the badin dam that can be paddled into at the correct water level. its huge and ive only been about 40 feet into it. that stretch of river is known as the narrows. before the dams went up class 5 whitewater rapids used to exsist and falls dam was built on top of a 10-15 foot waterfall hence the name falls dam. ive heard stories of Indians that used the falls as a crossing point because it was so shallow.

Hmm I only remember seeing one dam on moccasin creek rd. So Im guessing the big dam is the Badin dam?

Yeah. I meant Badin dam. It's the only dam you'll drive by on Moccasin creek rd.

Kinston, it normally takes me about 4 hours to get there, with making a stop or 2 on the way. Tried a different route this time. Yesterday I left the Hunt camp at 2:30 and got home at 6:02, driving in the rain and making 2 stops.
