This post is from facebook, but the more publicity it gets the better for all of us. I am gonna cut and paste from the author. Taylor Ridge. www.facebook.com/tridge800?hc_location=timelineAnd so it begins...Water Authority just plastered our favorite local spot with no trespassing signs!! This is after I recently spoke to the regional Park Ranger over this area and I was told he had "No problem" with us working this area!!!! Taylor Ridge I'm gonna find out everything I can, last time we were down there 2 sheriff deputies showed up and said we couldn't be down there because it was part of the watershed for a regional reservoir. So, the next day I got in contact with the Ranger that is over this area. I explained to him who we were and told him briefly about the GPAA and that we were all about conservation and keeping places clean. He said that he had seen us down there many of times as we have been going down there for over 3 years and he figured that we were prospecting. He said that he had no problem with us being down there and that we were well outside of the protected area of the reservoir. I don't know, but I will damn sure be calling him or whoever I have to in order to figure out what changed!!!

I thought that posted signs had to be signed and have contact information to be legal?

Technically, it just needs to be posted at the Courthouse.

Here is the explanation via Robert Way----
Robert Way OK Guys, update on this situation. Today I spoke to the Director for the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority. I was told that this area, which is part of the watershed for a regional reservoir has been recently purchased by the PTRWA land trust and has been included in the buffer zone for the reservoir. A total of 41 acres was purchased by the PTRWA in this area to avoid it from being sub-divided for residential or commercial building. Within this "Buffer Zone" that surrounds the reservoir there are no recreational activities allowed, this includes camping, fishing, hunting and everything else in-between. So, unfortunately this will limit our use of this area. On the other hand, after an hour of pleading and promises I was able to gain expressed consent for a professional use permit from the Regional director of the PTRWA for use of a small section of this stream exclusively for Triad Gold Prospectors, and Eureka Gold Panning and requiring ANY participants being accompanied by myself Taylor Ridge or Robert Way. With this consent of use from the PTRWA, we will be volunteering our time and have agreed to help out with local watershed cleanup activities in the area. This area is now very well marked "No Trespassing" and I have been assured that any persons not obeying the laws in this area will be heavily fined as this is now part of a nature preserve. So in closing, I feel as if we won a small battle but the war will continue as situations like this will without a doubt rise again!!!! Thank you for everyone's support regarding this matter.
