Hoping to get out and do some hunting for pretty rocks and gold later this year. Looking to get a metal detector and do some hunting with that as well. I have no experience but I am retired now so I do have some time. Finances are still an issue but Uncle Sam owes me some money that I will start collecting the end of this year. I'd love to join up with some of you if you want the company of a newbe in the future.

welcome. we are glad to have you here. where abouts are you located in eastern nc? might be gold near you somewhere. I live in Kinston, stuck between New Bern, Greenville and Goldsboro. The only gold around here is in people's teeth. There are good civil war and indian relics in the area but getting permission is the issue.

Cool, I never expected anyone to be that close. If you have any local secrets pass them on. I lived for a couple of years in Wadesboro (Anson County) just south of the U W Harries and got up there just for some exploring and sight seeing, never got to do any gold hunting though. If you want someone to tag along sometime on an outing, let me know.

Well I'm still hashing over the MD buying options. I'm Pretty much locked in on the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV or the Quicksilver that comes with a pinpointer or Walmart has a Tracker IV with a waterproof coil and automagic ground balancing for saltwater hunting. The 2 tracker IVs are both the same price. The quicksilver is about $30 more but that pinpointer is going to cost me at least $50 if I buy it separate. I'd really like that water hunting capability but I hate to have to turn around and spend more money on a pinpointer after my first outing.
