Went dredging with my 4 inch gold grabber dredge to a new spot. The water was cold, and we both were in the deep part of the water, not exactly where we wanted to be, but we found hard pack right away and started chewing through it. Got some descent gold, but of course the picker is the highlight from the cold day. Had to test the site because the access is so easy.

Been wondering why ya'll haven't been using a blaster hose and nozzle. You'll be moving way more material once you get it installed. Moved over twice the amount of material in a day with my combo after getting the blaster installed. I just got a 1" fire hose nozzle adapted to a 25' garden hose, mounted off my pump. A little high pressure nozzle works good too. Nice work guys, but this old man needs warmer water.

I have always been a skeptic of the blaster hose. Maybe for banks. I like the pry bar method. Scared I'll blast away the AU if I use pressure.

How can you be skeptical of something you never used, but many others have used and like it? I've seen guys just lay their 4' down in the water and the blaster nozzle next to it with ice on the creeks and not get their hands wet but still suck up the gold. But that's ok, what you leave behind, someone else will get.

I have used them. I did as you stated. To wash dirt into my system. Just my opinion. Right?

Bob, I did not say I did not like them either, my friend. Just not in some cases. Blowing down banks is good, but not in that bed rock if I was going to dredge it. In my opinion, I would blow away the gold trying to dislodge a rock so I would not use it in that case. I keep a 6 foot pry bar like James uses to deal with them. I also use a pick to breakup the gravels. People have different ways and what they like about getting that gold. Back in the early 90's we used dynamite that was left over from Clayton's jobs. We even fished with it.
