GPAA - KANNAPOLIS, NC

Located on the creek banks of Cold Water Creek in Kannapolis, North Carolina the
GPAA Kannapolis Chapter (formerly Matthews Chapter ) will host there 1st. Annual Gold Dig. The club house and meeting place is also located in Cabarrus County, of which the first documented gold in America was found in 1799 on what is now known as
"Reed's Gold Mine".

Participants will enjoy 2 fun filled days of team work with other gold prospectors while operating hi-bankers, dredges and metal detectors. Working in rich “Carolina” pay dirt will ensure that all participants earn a fair share of gold found each day.

Additional activities for the whole family include, Gemstone & Gold Panning, Metal Detecting Contests, Guest Speakers, Entertainment, FOOD, Fun and lots of camaraderie along with FREE Admission and FREE Parking while visiting multiple Vendors & Booths.
Primitive Camping Available. Pay Dirt: Gold Ore by the Bag or Bucket will also be available.

Not to shabby, James. That creek comes out of a lake north of where you were at. That location is one of those off the beaten path loscations. I know a landowner down creek from that location. He panned at one time and told me I could come and check out the creek. After see this, it may be worth checking out. Glad you did good.

ya, they have found a nugget in that creek, a guy sluicing found a pea sized nugget.. so the gold is there.

I am going to help some. I talked to Phyllis today and I am going to donate the use of my dredge to the club for both days. She said that Glenn was asking for equipment for the even. If you are planning on going to this and/or have some extra equipment, I am sure they would can use it if you are willing to lend it out?

I would call and ask whey they need if you do have some... and what they can use or need.

For those that do not know... They have bought two 16' trailer loads of pay dirt from Vein Mountain and will have a track hoe dig enough dirt to fill a dump truck for the Gold Dig they have coming up next weekend. The dirt from their creek has pickers and good gold. All money will go towards their club and outings. No personal gain. This will be a very nice friendly gathering of prospectors. I personally invite all on this forum to attend. We have a few on this forum that belong to that chapter. I feel sure that there will be vendors there as well so you can pick up a few things needed and save that shipping money.

we are going to be there saturday morning, we are bringing the 5" dredge. Sunday we are going to try and find somewhere else to dredge.

You may want to contact them if you are going to dredge. Not sure what the deal is this weekend with people bringing own equipment. I do know they were wanting members to donate equipment to use for their dirt. Not sure about anything else. Are you a member?

Found out what the deal is. It is a common dig, meaning all gold goes into kitty for those that have bought into the dig. You can run your dredge, but all cleanouts must be turned over to common dig participants to split each day. Dig starts at 0900 hours tomorrow.

Ett All: Just left the place... they dug more dirt with front end bucket so there is plenty for both days. They had a track hoe to dig down 6' to get good gold yesterday. 5 highbankers and dredges will be running. Club members will rotate on and off HB's to run dirt. You can see what James did for 2 hours at first post. Good gold!
