word of caution, do not try to load every state at the same time, especially the western states. It will crash your system

You are exaclly right. Just got my GE back up after a nightmare of trying over weeks.
I did notice that all mine name are gone and replaced with numbers for file data. I wonder if this was the reason for crash on my end. What a PITA that was.

You can disable all of the states in the "Places" or "My Places" section by unchecking them, and then only open the state you want to see the info for.
Even one of the western state can load down your computer if you don't have one of the latest and greatest computers, my computer never has crash using the overlays but it sure slowed down to a very slow crawl when I opened Google Earth with 3 or 4 of the western states enabled!!!

Do you know anything about the mine number data instead of their names? Before my computer crashed and had to reload GE, I had names instead of number of location.

No, I have the names of the mines, you may have to remove them from Google Earth and re-download them again, if that doesn't work maybe Google Earth didn't download properly when you reinstalled, and you may have to remove and reinstall Google Earth and then download the mine Overlays again.
