I would like to have some input from experienced divers on the proper way to care for hoses, reserve tanks, masks, regulators, etc. Maybe we could make this a sticky. Wes

Well in theory you are supposed to get your regulator serviced by an authorized shop periodically. They take them apart and clean them, replace gaskets and o-rings and check to see everything is still in adjustment. For what we do all f that is not ad important, but I do make sure my reg is clean and dry before storing. I also make sure and drain all moisture from the reserve tank to keep crud from growing. Other than those items I don't worry a out it much

One of my Aunts nearly died a few years back from Legion Airs disease. It is caused by standing water or moisture in places such as veh ac vents, shower heads, window ac units, etc. I was thinking the hoses and reserve tanks on our dredges could be a good place for this virus to form. Would it be a good idea to clean these items internally and what would you use? Wes

Prior to using the hooka system after being stored for the off season or more than a couple of weeks I use Listerine in my hoses and reserve tank to kill any bacteria that can grow inside them during storing, just be sure to flush them well with water and then air before using, I have also heard of some that put the Listerine at the end of the season before storing and leave it in until the next season. I have also heard of some using a water/bleach solution, but I don't know what ratio to use for the bleach solution, I don't know if the bleach will deteriorate the hose so I just use the Listerine. I also open up the compressor and clean it manually at the beginning of the season, just be sure you know what you're doing and have new gaskets and reed/flapper valves, etc. if you should need them. Here's an exploded view of the T-80 with a parts list/numbers for those that have one. I also have one for the Gast PCA-10 and I'll post it when I find it on my computer.

I couldn't find the Gast PCA-10 exploded view on my computer, but here's a link to a PDF file owner's manual for the PCA-10 and a few other similar compressors, it has an exploded view of a PBB-PCA-10 series compressor, it the same as the compressors we use except it has an electric motor, so the shaft will be different as it goes through the electric motor housing, as well as the rear compressor housing, which is the electric motor housing on the PBB. www.gastmfg.com/support_documents/70%202100%20REV%20L.pdfThe section you would be looking for starts on page 10 look for "VBB-PCA-10 Series" for the parts list/numbers and the exploded view is on page 11, the PBB is the 2 piston version of the PCA-10. Edit: Just so there's no confusion, the Gast PCA-10 is also known as the GAST 263 as it is sold by that name/number on most prospecting equipment websites.

I also trying to find some similar documents for the Keene KAC compressor, since I know many use them, but I haven't been successful as of yet, I'm going to email Mark and or Pat Keene to see if they will send me the exploded view and parts list for the KAC.

I received a reply back from Mark Keene concerning the exploded view of the KAC, he said at this time they don't have a current exploded view of the KAC, since they first introduce the KAC it has gone through numerous changes because of reliability issues and or failures and none of the earlier drawings look like the latest version of the KAC internally, they just recently in the first part of year made other changes and according to Mark they haven't had any complaints, so maybe they have finally worked out all the issues with the KAC.
He also said that he has been talking to his CAD tech concerning getting a drawing of the latest version done and they may have a drawing in a month or so.
I will keep in contact with Mark and when he has an exploded view he will send it to me and I will post it in this thread.
