That is kind of what I have been wanting to do but I want to do it a little differently.

We have talked about a zipline before and how we could use it for getting in and out of locations. This would be a great tool to have if you keep it simple. One of the hardest tasks we endure is entry and exit of locations. Wonder what size wire rope is needed and cost? Come-along, slings and pullies too.

I am looking at using 1/4" cable. Found some on ebay ... .250ft for round $65. 3/16" cable may work but I like the add strength of the 1/4". We may have this thing stretched out over 150 ft depending on where we are going in at..

I should be able to build the one like I want for $300-$400 or less... depending on a the stand I want to make. The biggest cost is the winch so far but harborfreight.com has a 3K self braking winch that will work.

But I like the one at northerntools 3k winch better: It has 10 more ft of cable for 50ft.

You also need a cable puller grip or barb wire stretcher, some safety hooks for the cable and for the chains for lifting the dredge with two rings to put the chains on, 3 recovery pulleys, the type with hooks or shackles will work too, two for the zip line... two or 3 of these:

I think I have away that I can hook the winch to a tree worked out. this way we can move the winch to the creek if needed... I can power the winch with my 12vdc booster pack...

What else do the rest of you think we need to make it work? I am sure someone has some ideas on this too

I envision keeping it simple. Get some steel rope that will support dredge weight, a few slings and hooks. You can sling the truck to tighten up cable. Wrap over limbs and figure out an adjustiable connection to dredge. Cheap, quick to install and simple.
