I took my boys for a camping/hiking/prospecting trip in the Uwharries. We left out Sunday morning hiked about 4 miles to our honey hole camp site (only maybe 2 miles, we went the long way in...not on purpose hahaha) and the thunderstorm Sunday night was awesome and we did get a bit of rain too, LOL. I actually spent very little time digging but rather just had a good camping trip playing with the boys. We had intended to stay until Wed morning but Tue around 2ish we decided to pack up camp and hike North a bit and camp at a different location.....after a long brutal hike through the woods the boys were done so we decided to hike back towards the truck and planned to just camp at the truck and then leave in the morning but again after we got there and BoJangles sounded really good so we loaded up and left for home. On the hike out we ran into Vic, his brother and Vics son who happen to be heading to our honey hole camp site, apparently we were hot swapping the camp site, HAHAHA. It sucked we did not get to spend some time at the camp with them but oh well maybe next time. We had a great time playing in the creeks and exploring the forest, even my dog had a great time...after I took off her backpack (she had to carry her own food) I did find some color from the few minutes I did run the sluice maybe only a few OZs but it is better than nothing right? LOL. I will post up some pics if anyone is interested once we get the pictures uploaded. Maybe next time I will actually spend more time looking for the yellow rocks. Good times!

HAHAHA not really but it sounds better saying it that way. But if I were a tiny ant it would seem like a few OZs, LOL. I found the same amount we normaly find out there, it seems for me anywhere I go out there I end up with the same amount every time, but always fun.

That was cool bumping into you Joe. My older brother was impressed with you taking your boys out camping like that. Not many dads do that kind of thing anymore he said. We got rained out royally, I have tents hanging everywhere. We went further up Dutch John and did a little better than normal. I actually got a small picker, sweet!

Ya I can pan I think I remember how too.. LOL! That's what happens when you too much time sucking, HAHAHA. The water was pretty good out there when we were there, plenty of water to run a sluice.

Never been. Have walked and camped those trails in Scouts with son though. My knees won't take that beating now. Maybe a short walk. Sucks getting old!
