Do yall local boys ever pan or sluice in the river? Is it even allowed? Or are the creeks just better places? I tkink its McCleans creek is the only place I have ever tried. Didnt know if there were any other places worth trying. I wouldnt mind exploring some other places. Ive only been there 3 or 4 times, but I am itching to go back. Hopefully in the next month or so.
Thanks, JC

I have sluiced the river a few times. There is gold. The black sand is stupid heavy. I filled up a 2 liter bottle in one outing. The farm we dredged on last year with the old dredge was the upper end of uwharrie. There is gold in almost every stretch of it.

Yup lots of black sand to move, but sure there is gold. I have found gold in every creek I have tried, some better than others however they all seem to carry at least some. best bet is to do some exploring and test as you move up a creek. It is always nice to play in the woods and creeks and find a bit of yellow rocks while playing. Have fun.
