Went out with Dirty Mike and CabarrusGold. We was hitting some new and unusual spots, and a old spot. Ran into Robert Way and his team of prospectors. I didn't get any gold pictures but we did find some gold. Met a couple out there gold mining I asked them to join us. I think over all we had a pretty successful day. I got a lil video of picker mike running his sluice.

But then the real prospecting begin... Hard rock n'! Yep, busting quartz veins with sledge and bar. Found gold in those veins too!

Here is a pic I made from my sorry camera/phone of our new friends we met on the creek. After James and I found the vein, they got to work on the veins getting all the rotted rock out. It is always a thrill hard rock n' and find the gold in it. This could easily be the start of a adit (tunnel). The big vein 24" in diameter continues to go into the rock face. The small vein continues up into host rock as well. You can see where we removed a good part of it by sledge and bar. Ole' timing it. If there was a tunnel to be made it would need some serious shoring up. The face is fractured real bad and dangerous. Very nice looking rock.

Nice guys. When you go back to that vein find the place where it pinches down the thinnest and get some samples there. I bet you will do well.

The big quartz rocks that were removed were pitted up, stained, had pyrite and when I busted them down, they had internal pitting and crevices. No visible gold but had Galena present. The small vein is fractured real badly from the host rock pressure. The pieces were 1/2" to dirt. That is where I found the visible/free gold in the quartz boil. I just panned the dirt and did not crush any small stones to show the couple that there was gold.

I guess the couple was rock hounding at the time of collection. I would not start a pit or tunnel for sure.

I dunno depends how much gold he gets out of the quartz. Might be worthing making a shaft lol

It looks like someone is going to get us kick out of the UNF if they keep doing things like that.

Hi all, First timer here. I am planning to head up to UNF this weekend, to check things out, i have never been but recently got the gold bug and want see whats what. Any help and advice of spots to hit would be great. If anyone is going to be there and has time to show a fellow prospector and his wife around a bit, it will be appreciated too.
